starting...

There was the Vigorelli in Milan. I always heard about it, but i don’t think I ever saw it, or at least I can’t remember. There was the Sports Hall. That one that fell down because of the snow, the snow of ’85. I do remember I saw that one. Inside, I mean. I saw “Holidays on Ice”, with my grandfather. And my grandfather told me about the Vigorelli. When he used to go to see a certain mr. Maspes. I couldn’t understand the name very well, whether he was italian or not. Grandfather told me he could stand still on the Vigorelli track, standing on his bike without touching the track with his feet, for minutes on end. Then he sprang. And sometimes I tried too, but I could only resist few seconds. Hardly a minute. I was a little older when I discovered that Maspes was italian, that he was a pistard, that my grandfather loved cycling, cycling on track above all. He liked the six day race and he went to see the cyclists. I never went. When I was old enough to go, the race wasn’t up anymore. It fell out of grace. And the Vigorelli too for years to come. Few years ago things started rolling again. But I still haven’t seen it. I’m thinking about assembling a fixed gear bike, though. And then i will go to the Vigorelli, with my fixedgear project.

Now, let’s start gathering pieces...seeking for an old frame.
